Event details

Part of the Careers and Placement Day, promoted jointly by Southampton Chemistry and ChemSoc

ChemSoc

The evening is a programme of short talks from alumni from Southampton Chemistry reflecting on their career experiences since they left full time study behind.  Over the years we have had many different themes for this event.  On this occasion the broad theme is one of how those in scientific careers are influencers of their environment.  This includes influence in terms of opinion, staff development, customer relations, a particular readership, the work of colleagues and many more things besides.

The diversity of careers is at least as extensive as with past Alumni Careers Evenings.  Each of our presenters will give you a sense of how their studies informed their career choices and what their current roles actually entail.  They will be able to tell you about what things were a surprise to them when starting at work and what they felt well prepared for.  As always these personal insights will give you a real sense of the opportunities out there and what you need to do to win one .... and then what you need to do to succeed.  A common thread will be a sense of the influence they have on colleagues, environment and achievement of success.
