Event details

This is a unique opportunity to learn from a pioneer in science at the forefront of cutting edge research. In his talk, Dr Ramakrishnan will take us on a captivating journey along the road to the structure of the Ribosome.

In 2009 the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was jointly awarded to Dr Ramakrishnan and two other colleagues "for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome".

Their research, although centred on the biochemical, has significant implications for medical research in providing insight into how antibiotic potency can be improved against drug-resistant strains of bacteria.  Dr Ramakrishnan was also honoured with a knighthood in the New Year Honours List 2012, for services to molecular biology.

BioSoc also invites you to enjoy refreshments that will be provided afterwards.
