Event details

Ivan Welsh presents a seminar as part of the Computational Systems research group’s seminar series.

Ionic Liquids (ILs) are low melting salts, with many in the liquid state at room temperature. ILs have been explored for numerous applications as solvents and materials, including as reaction solvents, for separations and purifications, and as materials for energy production and storage. One area that has not been well studied, is the effect of different solutes on the nanostructures of ILs. This talk will present a molecular dynamics investigation of the effect of four different solutes on the nanostructure of three ILs as the concentration of solute is increased.
