Demonstrating / teaching opportunities

Postgraduate students have the opportunity to get involved with teaching by supporting undergraduates with practical laboratory sessions, or assisting with events such as our electrochemistry and organic summer schools and outreach activities.

Assisting with outreach teaching

As a demonstrator you will not only be contributing to the undergraduate teaching, you’ll also be improving your own skills and experience. The skills you gain will enhance your CV and give a significant boost to your next career move, whether you are looking to remain in academia or move into industry.

All postgraduates are given mandatory training before becoming demonstrators. If you wish to extend your participation in demonstrating and teaching opportunities further, you can enter the postgraduate induction to learning and teaching (PILT) scheme, which allows postgraduates to acquire credits towards an educational qualification at master’s level and potentially lead to professional recognition by the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) at associate level.
