Research project: Flow Electrosynthesis

Currently Active:
Yes

Our interests include reactor development and Sustainable Synthetic Methodology Development. We have developed flow electrolysis cell for laboratory electrosynthesis, most recently in collaboration with Cambridge Reactor Design (CRD).

Our approach involves extended path flow channels to allow application of increased flow rates, leading to productivities of multiple grams per hour without affecting conversion and yield in devices with relatively small footprint. High productivity rates have been demonstrated in multiple reactions such as anodic methoxylation of N-formylpyrrolidine, and N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) mediated oxidative esterification and amidation of aldehydes.
