Research project: Russell: In situ (operando) structural characterisation of electrocatalysts

Currently Active:
Yes

The development of (largely x-ray based) methods for the determination of the structure of supported metal nanoparticles used as electrocatalysts.

The goal is to provide structural characterisation under conditions that match those in the operating environment so as to develop understanding of structure/property relationships and how these influence the activity and stability of electrocatalysts. Recent emphasis has been on studies of bimetallic electrocatalysts. I have an international reputation for EXAFS studies. This work has been often conducted with sponsorship from Johnson Matthey.
