Research project: Harrowven: Synthesis of the Aplysin Family of Natural Products

Currently Active:

A new, diastereoselective radical cyclisation-polar crossover reaction was developed to address the synthesis of the aplysin family of marine natural products. The key step was triggered by the addition of the electrophilic tributyltin radical to the electron rich enol ether.

A series of biomimetic cyclisation reactions then allowed all the known natural products in this family to be prepared.
