You can take up opportunities such as placements and career skills sessions.
You can take a summer placement within one of the Southampton chemistry research groups. You can also take a six-month placement within industry or at a partner university overseas, or a one-year placement in industry. Placements are excellent opportunities for you to enhance your employability, develop key life skills and get a feel or life as a researcher.
In your second year you’ll be able to take part in a skills programme which is designed to help you boost your key skills and employability. Through a series of exercises you’ll work on your team work, presentation and problem solving skills. You’ll also be able to attend talks from employers in a range of different industries.
The University’s Careers and Employability service offers all kinds of support, from employability e-learning courses, CV reviews and one-to-one careers advice.
