Applying to do chemistry at Southampton
We strive to offer flexibility to our prospective students as we recognise that your interests might change during the application process.
Therefore, although you should only apply for one of our courses in chemistry, we will be happy to modify your application if you have a change of heart during your A level year.
Flexibility in years one and two
All our degrees share a common 'chemistry core' curriculum up to the end of the second year. Subject to approval, some students take the opportunity to switch between degrees at either the end of their first or second year. All MChem degrees require students to meet a specified academic standard at the end of the second year.
Transition onto the MChem with a one year placement is subject to transferring no later than the end of the first year; meeting specified academic requirements and the approval of the degree coordinator.
