Six month placement at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
I wasn’t originally interested in a placement with the pharmaceutical industry but GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) came to Southampton seeking students, I found out about the opportunity, applied for it and got it.
I had the chance to apply my scientific skills during the project looking at contamination risks between two drugs at the GSK site in Worthing and ended up with a lot of responsibility.
It was rewarding to get involved in important work to ensure patient safety. I’m very glad I carried out the placement and it’s left me interested in perhaps joining a regulatory body later in my career.
