There are many great things about studying here. The staff are very approachable and there is a brilliant mentoring scheme, which has really helped me with my studies. I enjoy being part of a supportive and productive environment and there are lots of opportunities to participate in a variety of research.

The work was very rewarding and I enjoyed making a contribution to the manufacture of a globally important medicine.

I spent my one year placement at GlaxoSmithKline in the Primary Technical department. I helped support the manufacture of a topical antibiotic that is used to treat many conditions and to combat MRSA. The work was very rewarding and I enjoyed making a contribution to the manufacture of a globally important medicine. The placement gave me a valuable insight into careers in industrial chemistry, and provided an opportunity to improve my 'soft skills' like presentations in an industrial environment. I feel suitably challenged and prepared at Southampton for beginning a career after I have completed my degree.
