Building your Educational Portfolio

Target audience:

All Academic Staff (i.e. teaching and research) / Education Staff

Brief Outline:

A strong educational portfolio is increasingly important in supporting career progression for all staff involved in education, and particularly for those in teaching focussed roles.  However, it can be a challenge to engage in the kinds of activity that contribute to such a portfolio given the pressures associated with the multi-faceted role of the modern academic.  This workshop will give practical examples of how colleagues can develop their educational portfolio in a way that complements the ‘day job’, supporting enhanced effectiveness as well as enhancing the CV.  Pathways to Senior/Principal Fellowship of the HEA will be discussed, along with the prestigious National Teaching Fellowship administered by AdvanceHE.  The workshop will be facilitated by Profs Shelley Parr and David Read, both of whom have achieved promotion on the education pathway here at Southampton.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

1st May 2019 - 12:30 to 1:30pm & 1st July 2019.

Session run by:

Prof. Shelley Parr, Director, Centre for Higher Education Practice, Prof. David Read, Professorial Fellow, Centre for Higher Education Practice
