PhD Data Management Plans: Introduction for supervisors

Keeping data safe, findable and re-usable is essential to good research. To encourage good research practice in data management, this year all PhD students will be expected to complete a data management plan (DMP) as part of their first progression review. Students will be expecting to discuss their DMPs with their supervisors. If you don’t want to get caught out, please attend this session!

Course Description:

This 45 minute session will:

-          Focus on the different sections in the DMP template that all 1st year PhD’s are required to complete and lodge with their 1st year report in PGR Tracker

-          Time will be given to explain the purpose of the DMP, including why it is important for those students who may not traditionally consider that they have data

-          Cover resources and further information about data management plans and the University’s Data Management Policy
