Event details

Student engagement means far more than listening to students’ views and responding to their feedback and if we get it right it can have significant impact upon satisfaction scores. This workshop will look at the evidence and at good practice in student engagement across the sector, to identify the benefits & challenges that working in partnership with students can bring. It will take the format of an initial presentation, followed by small group discussions in which attendees will have the opportunity to reflect upon their existing practice and think about aspects of student engagement they may want to enhance.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

- Appreciate the diversity of interpretations of the term ‘student engagement’ and what genuine partnership working means.

- Have an oversight of the benefits and challenges of partnership working with students.

- Expand their knowledge and insight of good practice examples of partnership working from real programmes.

- Be aware of useful literature/resources on this topic for further learning.

- Reflect upon their own practice and identify one or two areas in which their own programmes could be enhanced through student engagement activities.

Session led by: Prof. Shelley Parr, Director, Centre for Higher Education Practice
