Event details

Brief Outline: Public Engagement with Research (PER) is increasingly important in demonstrating impact, supporting both funding applications and REF performance. Such activity also supports skills development for academics and researchers, creates opportunities for interdisciplinary and external collaborations and can be incredibly rewarding. This interactive workshop will provide an overview of the topic and training opportunities within the University, with the aim of encouraging participants and their research groups to get involved in Public Engagement activity.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

- Explain what is meant by the term ‘Public Engagement with Research’.
- Identify different audiences/publics who might engage with PER activity developed by them and their research groups.
- Demonstrate knowledge of different activities that might be effective when engaging with different audiences/publics.
- Consider ways to evaluate the success of your PER activity.
- Identify training needs to take forward with CHEP/PERu in future.
