National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) / Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE)

Advance HE runs an annual National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) Scheme to celebrate outstanding individual and collaborative achievements in learning and teaching in UK higher education.  

These prestigious awards are regarded as the highest level of professional recognition of excellence and innovation in all aspects of education.

The programme is co-ordinated by the Centre for Higher Education Practice and supported by many of our previous NTF winners including Professor Simon Kemp, National Teaching Fellow (2010) and winner of the Times Higher Education Most Innovative Teacher of the Year (2013), Professor David Read, National Teaching Fellow (2017), Professor Judith Holloway, National Teaching Fellow (2017), Professor Mike Wald, National Teaching Fellow (2010), Mr James Wilson, National Teaching Fellow (2017), Dr Scott Border, National Teaching Fellow (2019), Dr Sally Curtis, National Teaching Fellow (2019) and Dr Basel Halak, National Teaching Fellow (2020)

Is it ever too early to start planning?

Being in a position to apply for an NTF or CATE award is not something that happens overnight. Usually it takes several years of planning, excellent achievement and continuous professional development.  So, it is never too soon to come to a session or make contact with the team to discuss how you can get started.
