Module Design

Topic/Aim(s) of Session: This session will explore the role of the module leader, approaches to module design, outcomes based planning, internal and external guidance and frameworks for module and programme design, credits and levels, quality assurance and the impact of design on student approach to learning. The session will also provide a opportunity for participants to critique a module. 

This session is offered as part of the Postgraduate certificate in Academic Practice.

Please note that it is not possible to attend this session unless you are completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).  To reserve a place on a PGCAP course (where you will attend all the module 1 and module 2 sessions) please email Karen Hockley (K.A.Hockley@soton.ac.uk).

By the end of this session participants will be able to: 

  • identify issues concerned with module design
  • critique a module profile
  • describe action learning
  • list the responsibilities of a module leader
