Dr Richard Wagland,Mining for the text gold: making big data sets manageable Dr Richard Wagland, Senior Research Fellow, Health Sciences, University of Southampton, will discuss the benefits and challenges of ‘conventional’ and text mining approaches to the analysis of comments provided in patient reported experience surveys (PREMs).

Dr Carol Rivas,No time like the PRESENT: Pragmatic engineering of themes from large volume text to improve healthcare Dr Carol Rivas, Senior Research Fellow, Health Sciences, University of Southampton, will explain the importance of her new study, ‘PRESENT’, supported by Don Cruickshank from ECS.

Professor Clive Seale,Brunel University,Analysing qualitative data using Wordsmith and Wordstat Professor Clive Seale, emeritus Professor at Brunel University, will describe his work on analysing media and website fora text data. An engaging speaker, Clive has written a number of textbooks and chapters to support students and researchers in the pragmatics of research. His books include 'Constructing Death: The Sociology of Dying and Bereavement' and 'The Quality of Qualitative Research‘.
