Call for Papers - Urbanization and Development in China

The scale and speed of urbanization in China is unprecedented in the history of human development. It is not only a major driver of the country’s extraordinary economic growth but also for reshaping both the physical environment and the cultural fabric of China.

We warmly invite research papers relating to the broad area of China’s urbanization and development from economic, sociological, political as well as historical perspectives. Possible themes including (but not limited to):

  • migration
  • urbanization
  • China’s new middle class
  • urban planning and development
  • rural development
  • food security
  • health and population change
  • environment challenges
