British Confucius Institutes hold a Joint Conference in Glasgow
On September 20th 2016, the Confucius Institutes from across the UK held a joint conference in Glasgow. Representing Southampton University at the meeting were deputy foreign director Ying ZHENG and Chinese director Fang ZHOU. Overall more than 20 Confucius Institutes in the UK were represented by both foreign and Chinese delegates, and the following topics were addressed:
1. Best practices on promoting cultural exchange
2. Chinese Proficiency Tests
3. Strengthening collaborations between partner universities
4. Best practices on implementation of Hanban’s scholarship
5. Resource Sharing amongst Confucius Institutes: models of good practice/models of innovation
6. Confucius Institute’s involvement in Chinese language teaching at the Host University
7. Collaboration between Confucius Institutes and enterprises
8. Support local community & citizens
Currently there are 29 Confucius Institutes and 147 Confucius Classrooms across the UK.
