From 9th to 11th of September, under the support of Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton, CI part-time teacher Yujing LU successfully completed the Intensive Teacher Training Programme in Business Chinese at the Confucius Institute at LSE. The training courses started with a welcome by the Minister Councilor of Education from the Chinese Embassy, Mr. WANG Yongli and Hanban UK Director Mr. CHEN Tongdu. The course then followed up with lectures and discussions centered around essential teaching skills of Business Chinese teachers and an exploration of market potential for Business Chinese courses. These lectures were led by prominent professors and scholars from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China), Beijing Language and Culture University (Beijing, China), Oxford University and LSE to mention some.

As a participant of this training, the CI of Southampton strongly believes that the Business Chinese Programme is one of the most important areas for Chinese course development. We hope to establish a future cooperation between the CI and LSE, whereby the CI commits to offering well-established Business Chinese courses for professionals, executives and those preparing for a longer stay in China.
