Lectures on Chinese Culture were held on 3rd October 2017 at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College which was the college first event organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton.

The lecturers were Dr. Mark Cranshaw, former Director of the Confucius Institute, and Dr. Lu Rugang, a senior lecturer at the University of Southampton.
Dr. Mark Cranshaw’s lecture, “Understanding Modern China", showed the rapid development of modern China in the aspects of economic growth, urban development, social change and population increase.

Dr. Lu Rugang’s lecture, “How does Chinese Language link to the Culture ", gave a cognitive and interesting elaboration in three aspects – the definition of language and cultural; the link between language and cultural; and whether Chinese language was difficult to learn.
