Public Lectures on Traditional Chinese Medicine by Guest Lecturers from Xiamen University

On 9th November 2017, sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton (CI Soton) a public lecture event on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was held at Highfield Campus. Guest lecturers from Xiamen University, Yanhui Wang, a well-known professor on TCM and Deputy Director of the Faculty of Medicine and Xiaoyan Qian, professor of Chinese Acupuncture, gave lectures at their expertise. Ying Zheng, Director of CI Soton chaired the Q&A session followed by the onsite pulse feeling and acupuncture needle applying. Alex Neil, Vice-President of the University of Southampton attended the event and gave his speech. Around 100 audience attended the lectures.

TCM is a treasure of science from ancient China. It plays an important role in Chinese culture and Chinese people’s daily life. The TCM event opened up a new way for people in Southampton to have a better understanding of Chinese view on healthy living.
