MA Cuihua has successfully completed her 2-year work placement at the Confucius Institute, University of Southampton

Cuihua is a lecturer from Xiamen University, majored in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. She joined Confucius Institute of the University of Southampton as a Chinese teacher in August 2016.

Cuihua delivered Mandarin lessons in several different schools in Southampton, including Mansbridge Primary School, Applemore College, and so on. Her effort has deepened cooperation among schools and CI,for example, Applemore College has decided to offer more Chinese programmes from this September.

A major part of her responsibilities is to organize and conduct Chinese culture workshops and activities for schools in Southampton. She creatively introduced some traditional local Chinese activities such as Mooncake games workshop and Tangram workshop for CI, which are very popular among students and the public.

In the past two years, Cuihua also did great jobs on HSK&YCT exams. All the students passed the exams successfully, and one of them won the Confucius Institute Scholarship to Xiamen University, which strengthens the confidence of the students in study.

Apart from what mentioned above, Cuihua persisted her researches in her field. She submitted a paper and did a presentation at Inaugural Symposium of the European Association of Chinese Teaching.

After the jobs in Southampton CI, she will continue her career in Xiamen University. We wish her all the best though we would like her to stay with us.
