PanLi received her Master’s degree in education from JiLin University in 2013, majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. She worked as a Chinese teacher in a High school in China. PanLi joined the Confucius Institute (CI), University of Southampton as a Qualified Mandarin Teacher from September, 2017.

She was selected to join the “Project Somerset” which has been delivering Mandarin tuition to students of all ages across the county. She has shown the capacity to adapt to life in a new country, whilst at the same time giving language classes in a variety of challenging circumstances. She has been responsible for teaching Mandarin in a number of secondary schools, including successfully delivering GCSE lessons as part of the curriculum at Westfield Academy in Yeovil.

She has also provided tuition for staff at the global shoe company, Clarks, which is a major local employer.

In addition, she is responsible for the events held by CI to introduce Chinese language and culture to students and local people. Other responsibilities included:

· Taught beginners and advanced group in Clarks from 9.2017 to 7.2018

·Taught Mandarin evening class in Strode College from 10.2017 to 5.2018

· Taught evening club in Sexey’s school from 10.2017 to 3.2018

· Taught two GCSE groups in Westfield Academy

·Conducted oral & written assessments

· Coordinated Chinese culture events in Southampton

· Delivered Chinese culture workshops, including: chopsticks, dumplings, Chinese new year, etc.
