Mansbridge Primary School Welcomes the Chinese New Year

From 28th January to 7th February 2019, students celebrated the Chinese New Year in their Confucius Classroom at Mansbridge Primary School.

Year 3 to Year 6 students guided by their Chinese tutor anticipated in story telling of the origin of Chinese New Year, signs of the Zodiac, New Year cards for the Year of Pig, red packets, paper cutting of Chinese character for spring and related Chinese language expressions.

The Confucius Classroom at Mansbridge Primary School has been running for more than four years and has maintained good cooperation with the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton. The school offers compulsory Chinese courses from Year 3 to Year 6, and regularly holds cultural events such as the Calligraphy Art Club and China Day. The Chinese New Year celebrations gave the ‘Little Chinese Fans’ the opportunity to experience the Chinese traditions.
