WANG Yifan Successfully Completed 1- year Work Placement at the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton

Yifan’s first degree was in Chinese Music Performance and he is now studying Teaching Music in Sichuan Conservatory of Music for his Master's degree. Yifan joined the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton (CI Soton) as a volunteer teacher in September 2018. He has been working as a teaching assistant in Bohunt School, Liphook for half a year and then continued his work in the office at CI Soton.

His area of work covered Mandarin courses, such as GCSE Chinese, HSK, Mandarin courses for beginners etc. He has also brought many Music performances and Chinese culture workshops for the local schools and communities.

 

With CI Soton, he tried a new course of combining Mandarin learning with Music learning at the University of Southampton, which made the learning easier and enjoyably.

 

His duties included:

  • Assisting in Chinese teaching at Bohunt School Confucius Classroom
  • Invigilating HSK/YCT tests
  • Writing news about CI
  • Delivering workshops/Performances in Local schools and Communities
  • Running the Mandarin and Chinese Music course for CI ‘We Love Mandarin’ project
     

He will continue his postgraduate study in Chengdu, China following the completion of the CI work and we wish him all the best in the future.
