Being Part of the Outreach Project

The Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton (CI) has contributed to two big outreach events organised by Modern Languages and Linguistics (MLL).

On 15th January 2020, CI tutors provided three Chinese Language and Culture Taster sessions to Year 12-13 students from many local schools coming to the Avenue Campus attending the MLL Sixth Form Conference – Why Language Matter.

 On 22nd January 2020, CI tutors contributed to an Immersion and Language Experience Day via delivering Chinese Language and Culture Taster sessions to around 100 Year 11 pupils coming from Cantell and Bitterne Park secondary schools. The event was part of the mentoring project running by all five national research projects funded under the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Open World Research Initiative (OWRI), which locally involves Southampton undergraduates.
