CI Online Open Day and Mid-Autumn Festival

From 1st to 15th October 2020, the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton (CI) ran an online event to celebrate the annual Mid-Autumn Festival and the Confucius Institute Open Day. It was open to public and all were welcome.

Two activities were designed for the event - quiz and art competition.

The online quiz contained knowledge of Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, such as myths and legends, traditions and customs as well as the moon cakes. It also had multiple choice questions related to the CI. Participants could watch the video clips and check the linked website alongside the quiz and then answer the questions.

For the art competition, participants could upload photos of hand-made lanterns or creative drawings on the theme of Mid-Autumn Festival or any Chinese elements.

According to the criteria, top 8 participants won the winning prizes and the rest won the prizes for their engagement.

 The event received positive feedback from the participants and CI hopes this event could help people to learn more about the Confucius Institute and the traditions in Chinese culture.
