The long expected 2020 Christmas break finally arrived. However, due to the epidemic and social distance policy, teachers were unable to visit their relatives and friends. Therefore, the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton organised an online “Christmas & New Year Tea Party”, which was the first in its history.

The tea party had two themes:  'sharing' and 'playing'

All the participants had frontline teaching experiences.

In the sharing session, teachers discussed the differences in SEN education between China and the UK as the past year was a special one and the special social environment had a greater impact on SEN students.

In the game part, the teachers finally had a chance to practice and enjoy themselves with Bingo and Quiz, two commonly used games in daily language teaching.

This online gathering eased the homesickness of the Chinese teachers who were far away from home.

Let’s hope 2021 will be a more positive and optimistic year.
