A second webinar in the series of Discovering China was held on 4th November 2021, by the Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Southampton. Dr Ying Zheng, English Director of CI, hosted the session.

More than 30 teachers and students from the School of Humanities listened to Mr. Kang’s talk on ‘Administrative Divisions in China – provinces, municipalities, and cities’. The talk introduced Chinese administrative division system, city tier system, different lifestyles in different cities and had a discussion about which city would the audiences choose to live and what factors would the audiences consider. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the talk was delivered by Mr. Kang remotely in China, He works for the Chinese International Education College, Xiamen University and will come to the UK working at CI soon.

The 40-minute webinar provided participants with updating knowledge and information about China. It also let the participants learn more about different lifestyles in different cities in China. After the webinar, teachers and students left messages saying thanks to Mr. Kang for his interesting talk, and asking for more about Chinese provinces, teaching/learning culture in coming webinars.

There will be two more talks in the series of ‘Discovering China’ in Semester 1. Please watch out for more details on CI website.
