CI's last webinar in the ‘Discovering China’ series Semester 1

The final webinar in the 'Discovering China' series Semester 1 was held by the Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Southampton on 2nd December. Dr Ying Zheng, the English Director of CI, hosted the session.

More than 20 teachers and students from the University of Southampton listened to this excellent lecture on ‘Chinese Festivals and Traditions for Celebration’ given by Miss Gong, who is the Chinese teacher of Bohunt Worthing school, a Confucius Classroom affiliated to the Confucius Institute of Southampton. Miss Gong introduced the Chinese Lunar Calendar and four important Chinese festivals – the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Qixi Festival – and some interesting customs.

This webinar lasted for about 40 minutes and introduced knowledge and information about Chinese festivals and customs. It also explained some traditional ideas and expectations that lie behind these festivals. After the talk, participants expressed their gratitude to Miss Gong and left messages about some topics they would like to learn about next semester.

This was the last webinar in the 'Discovering China' series for Semester 1.
If you have any suggestions, please email us. We will be holding more webinars next semester – please watch out for more details on the CI website.
