2021 Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton

On the afternoon of December 16, Beijing time, the 2021 Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton was successfully held.

Alex Neill, Vice President of the University of Southampton, Jane Falkingham, Interim Vice President, Sarah Pearce, Head of the School of Humanities, and Zheng Ying, UK Director of the Confucius Institute attended the meeting as British representatives.

Yang Bin, Vice President of Xiamen University, Chen Zhiwei, Dean of Chinese International Education College / Overseas Education College, Yu Hongbo, Executive Director of the Office of Overseas Campus Affairs / Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Zheng Ruoling, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute and some relevant staff attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Foreign President Zheng Ying.

Zheng Ruoling and Zheng Ying reported to the Board the work summary and annual financial report of the Confucius Institute in 2021, and the work plan for 2022. The two sides discussed the composition of the board of directors, the opportunities and challenges of the work of the Confucius Institute after its transfer, and the cooperation between the two universities, and reached an agreement on cooperating in setting up contemporary Chinese courses, and in-depth exchanges between the personnel and scientific research of the two universities.
