Spring Festival Cultural Activities (II)

On February 6th and 12th 2022, the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton participated in the two Chinese New Year celebration activities organised by the Shaolin of Southampton.

The event on February 6th was held in the Mayflower Studios (MAST), and despite the bad weather, many people came and enthusiastically took part.

The other activity, held on February 12th , was held in Guildhall Square, with much nicer weather.
Lots of people came and got involved in the Lantern Festival celebrations there. The Confucius Institute carefully prepared three workshops for the activities, namely paper cutting, lantern making and clay statue making, which attracted many people to come by and actively participate.

It is worth mentioning that different from the previous Spring Festival cultural workshops, this year’s Spring Festival event coincides with the warm progress of the Beijing Winter Olympics, so the Confucius Institute also specially integrated the elements of the Beijing Winter Olympics in designing the activities.
