Matej Porubovic Wins the First Prize in the Chinese Competition of Charitable Project & Business Innovations for UK University Students

On April 10 2022, the third Chinese Competition of Charitable Project Business Innovations for UK University Students was held online. Matej Porubovic, a student of the Confucius Institute (CI), won the first prize.

This Competition was held by the Organising Committee of the Chinese Competition of Charitable Projects & Business Innovations Chinese Proficiency Test UK, which is a well-known brand of English Chinese teaching that aims to promote the development of teaching business in Chinese.

14 contestants from 10 universities across the UK entered the finals. The topics broadly covered social welfare and business, such as "Xingyi: a Platform for Chinese Volunteers to Help the Elderly " and “Clothing Consumption and Environmental Protection". Matej Porubovic, took part in this competition with the theme of “Thinking about the Source of Drinking Water: Combined Water Bottle”, and won first place under the guidance of Mr. Kang, one of the CI’s teachers.

As an award-winning representative, Matej Porubovic delivered a speech after the competition. He expressed thanks to the Organising Committee for providing all the participants with a good opportunity to learn and practice Chinese. He also thanked teachers of the CI for helping him with his Chinese learning.

Matej Porubovic is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He has a strong interest in Chinese learning and Chinese business, and participates in various cultural activities of the college as a volunteer from time to time. He is very much looking forward to the opportunity to exchange and study in Chinese colleges and universities in the future.
