Owen, student of the CI at University of Southampton, won double prizes in the final of the 2nd ECUST Cup Chinese Proficiency Competition

On October 15, 2022, "Chinese as a bridge, together towards the future" - the final of the 2nd ECUST Cup Chinese Proficiency Competition for foreigners ended successfully.

The finals were broadcast live online through the Tencent meeting, attracting many viewers to watch the game. Owen May-Jones, a student of our Chinese Institute, won the second prize and the best online popularity award for his outstanding performance in this competition.

The finals are divided into four parts: online speech, Q&A on China's national conditions, talent show and random questions from judges. During the competition, the contestants took their time and displayed their talents, presenting a wonderful feast of competition.

During the preparation process, Owen and his instructor Gong Rong cooperated veery well. Miss Gong patiently instructed Owen on pronunciation, facial expressions and body movements during his speech. Owen was also very open-minded and eager to learn, and made rapid progress. Miss Gong said: "Owen is smart and humble, a very polite and hard-working student."
