Handwriting Competition

The first Chinese Handwriting Competition, organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton, took place in several Confucius Classrooms and Teaching Sites in the Autumn Semester of 2022 to increase students' interest in learning Chinese characters and appreciate the beauty of Chinese character handwriting, as well as a basic understanding of the Chinese poems.

Tiffany Chen and Lewis Naylor from Bohunt's Liphook School won the first prizes for elementary and advanced groups respectively, and Charlie Heath from Bohunt's Worthing School won the first prize for the intermediate group. Participating instructors said that this competition has increased students' enthusiasm for Chinese language learning, especially in enhancing their motivation to practice handwriting, and it has also promoted the students to learn ancient Chinese poems.
