Confucius Classroom at Bohunt School Worthing Went to Birmingham to Participate in Chinese experience activities
From March 28th to 29th, 2023, Year 10 MEP students of the Confucius Classroom at Bohunt School Worthing went on a school trip to Birmingham and attended the MEP Journey to the East Conference.
The trip provided students with an opportunity to experience Chinese food culture. Encouraged by their teacher, the students attempted to read the menu in Chinese and order bubble tea independently. In the evening, the teacher took the students to a Chinese restaurant where they tried various Chinese dishes, using chopsticks to share food such as dumplings, fried noodles, and fried rice. The students also experienced KTV activities and learned about the unique form of entertainment culture in which music and human interaction are intertwined.
On March 29th, the students attended the MEP Journey to the East Conference at the Birmingham International Conference Center. In the morning, the students enjoyed a performance of Chinese musical instruments and listened to speeches on Chinese history and culture given by British professors. During lunchtime, the students participated in different Chinese cultural workshops such as calligraphy, ink blowing, and Tai Chi. In the afternoon, the students continued to learn about keynote speeches on Chinese internet literature, animation, and music.
After the activity, the students provided feedback through writing compositions. Throughout this Chinese tour, the students applied their knowledge of Chinese culture into practical experience, which deepened their understanding of contemporary Chinese culture and improved their enthusiasm for Chinese learning.
