2023 Dragon Boat Festival Celebrations in the CI Classrooms

From 16th -29th June 2023, the Confucius Institute Classrooms at partner schools - Bohunt Worthing School, Bohunt Liphook School, Mansbridge School and Hope Community School, organised a series of activities to celebrate the Chinese traditional Dragon Boat Festival.

In the special sessions held in each school, students learned the historical origins of the Festival, its customs and the cultural significance. Tutors provided diversity of strategies to make the sessions enjoyable and knowledgeable. Such as scanning the QR code to watch the video clips of the Chinese ancient poet Qu Yuan; the dragon boat races that take place during the festivities whilst learning the related vocabulary; calligraphy competition; colouring a dragon boat and folding the boat into a 3D product; team work of rowing a board; quiz on the Festival customs, etc.

Feedback from the participants and schools is very positive, which is a great encouragement to the CI tutors.
