CI Assisted the University in Hosting “International Dialogue Series”: Mindfulness and Wellbeing in Chinese Music: Songs of Tzu Huang
On 1st June 2023, the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton (CI UoS) assisted the University in organising a hybrid presentation on Mindfulness and Wellbeing in Chinese Music: Songs of Tzu Huang as part of the “International Dialogue Series” at Avenue Campus and online via the Microsoft Teams. The presenter was Dr Paulina Wong from the Education University of Hong Kong, and the event was chaired by Dr Chiying Lam from the Faculty of Humanities (FAH) .
The presentation highlighted the importance of health and wellbeing and discussed the curriculum guidelines for arts education at primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Dr Wong presented her research on music, health and wellbeing, using visual artworks and songs by Tzu Huang to evoke emotions and explore mindfulness in Chinese music. Active interaction and discussions at the Q&A session showed how interested the audience were and positive feedback has been received from both the in person and online participants.
