The Confucius Institute will be hosting a reception for guests to celebrate this important festival.
The mid-autumn festival is the second most important festival in Chinese culture, after Chinese New Year. The festival always falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar. The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Moon Festival, as the moon is at its fullest on the 15th day of the lunar calendar.
This year it falls on 30th September however the Confucius Institute will be hosting a reception to celebrate this important festival 27th September to fit in with the working week.
The evening will combine entertainment in the form of traditional music, dance and presentations from locals schools, with the practice of traditions such as the Chinese tea ceremony and sampling of the popular festival food, mooncake.
