Discover Chinese food culture through cinema and TV! Through food tastings, academic discussion, film screenings and an onsite cooking demonstration by chef Jeremy Pang (School of Wok), we will be exploring Chinese food culture and its relationship with the big and the little screen. Everyone and people of all ages are welcome to this free event, organised by the University of Southampton's Film Department and sponsored by the Confucius Institute.

10-10:30 am: Registration
10:30 – 10:45 am: Opening Remarks (by Professor Tim Bergfelder, University of Southampton)
10:45 am – 12:00 noon: Films, Culture and Chinese Food: Academic Presentation (by Ms. Chenjia Xu, SOAS) and Roundtable Talk (by Professor Tim Bergfelder, Dr Ruby Cheung, Dr Corey Schultz, University of Southampton; Dr Leung Wing-Fai, King's College London)
12:00 noon – 1:00 pm: Lunch – Chinese Cuisine Revisit (featuring authentic Chinese food supplied by local Chinese restaurants)
1:00 – 2:00 pm: Chef Selection (by Jeremy Pang, School of Wok)
2:00 – 4:20 pm: Auteur and Food [Note: Screening of a selected film with Q&A]
4:20 – 4:30 pm: Closing Remarks (by Dr Ying Zheng, Director of the Confucius Institute)
