1.Why is it called the Spring Festival?
The Chinese New Year is popularly known as the Spring Festival in China, since it starts from the beginning of spring (立春)and marks the end of winter.
为什么叫春节?
农历新年在中国俗称春节。因为它从立春开始,标志着冬天的结束。
2.Why is it so important?
It remains the most important occasion for families to reunite and spend time together. Its celebration is also believed to be significant in ensuring good fortune for the coming year.
春节为什么这么重要 ?
春节是家庭团聚的最重要时刻,人们认为各种庆祝活动可以给来年带来好运气。
3.How Long does the Spring Festival Last For?
Celebrations typically start on the evening before the new moon (Chinese New Year’s Day), and end on the evening of the full moon, 15 days later (Lantern Festival). Chinese people enjoy a 7-day public holiday (Chinese New Year’s Eve to New Year’s day 6).
农历新年持续多久?
庆祝活动通常在新月前一晚(农历新年)开始,并在 15 天后的满月晚上(元宵节)结束。中国人一般都有7 天的公共假期(除夕至新年第 6 天)。
4.What is the Chinese New Year Animal for 2022?
Each Chinese year is associated with an animal sign according to the Chinese zodiac cycle, which features 12 animal signs in the order Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. 2022 is the year of the Tiger.

根据中国十二生肖周期,每个中国新年都与一个动物标志相关联,其中有 12 个动物标志,依次为鼠、牛、虎、兔、龙、蛇、马、羊、猴、鸡、狗、猪。 2022年是虎年。
5. Chinese new year taboo: avoid breaking a bowl, plate, glass, etc
Breaking something is considered a bringer of bad fortune, monetary loss, or family breakup. If something is broken accidentally, people usually say ‘Sui sui ping’an’ which means ‘all year round safe and sound’.
中国新年的禁忌:避免打破碗、盘、玻璃等
打碎物品被认为会带来厄运,并使人们损失金钱或家庭破裂。如果不小心弄坏了东西,人们通常会说“岁岁平安”,意思是“一年四季平安”。(因为在汉语里“年”也可以称作“岁”,它和表示打破的“碎”发音一样,人们就用谐音来驱逐厄运。)
