Programme
14.00: Tea/coffee and cakes and a chance for Networking
14.30: Introduction to our Sequestration speaker, by Theme Lead, Dr Juerg Matter
14.35: Professor Rachael James: ‘Sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide through enhanced weathering of basalt and mine waste materials’
15.05: Q&A
15.15: Introduction to our Utilisation speaker by Theme Lead Dr Pier Sazio
15.20: Dr Bing Tao: 'Converting CO2 into Gaseous Fuel by Biomethanisation in Anaerobic Digestion'
15.45: Q&A
16:00: Finish
Professor James's talk will describe research investigating whether waste mine tailings from metal and diamond extraction can be harnessed to remove greenhouse gases and another project, about enhanced weathering of agro-ecosystems.
Dr Tao's research is focused on in-situ bio-methanisation, a process which maximises the conversion of available carbon in waste biomass, into a fuel product that has a wide range of applications.
