Jubilee Extension

Jubille East Elevation project

The University is pleased to share plans for the extension of our health and wellbeing facilities at Jubilee Sports Centre.

Our existing sports centre opened in 2004 and continues to be enjoyed by students, staff and the local community.

Following an initial student and staff consultations a new extension and series of refurbishments have been designed to create modern, attractive and welcoming health and wellness facilities.

The new extension will house five new sports studios which will include a dedicated martial arts space and indoor cycling studio. The facility will also have speed climbing and top rope climbing to add to our current bouldering provision. The gym will be modernised and improved.

The building has been designed to be respectful to neighbouring buildings, to connect to the outdoors and increase natural light, to be inclusive of all potential users and to meet our Low Carbon targets.

More detailed information about the design of the building can be found below.

If you have any questions or comments please send them via email to estatedevelopment@soton.ac.uk before 12pm on 28 November 2021.
