The University is implementing a new ‘shared space’ design for the end of Salisbury Road which will make it significantly more welcoming to pedestrians, allowing them to easily cross from the north to the south side of the campus.

Due to delays beyond the University’s control, the road closure will last until July 2019. The University apologises for the ongoing inconvenience to road users.

It will still be possible to cross Salisbury Road on foot during this time but access to buildings 53 and 59 will be narrowed and the cycle storage outside Building 53 until the works are complete.

Download a pdf map of alternative cycle stores.

The works will begin at the University Road junction, then start at the Western end by the common and work East along the road in phases.

For alternative walking routes from Highfield To Avenue Campus check the walking routes map on the active travel page.

You can see an artist's impression of the end result at the end of our Centenary Building fly-through video.

(Please note, the video features artist's impressions of the building, and actual finishes may vary.)
