Site Investigations and Telecomms mast

Site Investigations

Following our estates framework exhibition at the end of June we will be beginning site investigations to tell us about the ground conditions around campus and inform future planning.

This will start in Hampton Car park which be closed for a week from June 23 2018.

Between the contractor’s area for this work and the unrelated Wireless infrastructure Group erecting a telecoms mast in the Broadlands Car Park, half of Broadlands will be out of use over the summer, from July 30 for 8 weeks.

Over the Summer you may see site investigation works on campus either digging trial pits or erecting equipment to take samples, we are doing all we can to minimise the disruption caused.

The broad areas of work should be:

Hampton Park car park - June 23rd for 1 week

Broadlands Road car park including the former allotments site – 30th June for around 2 weeks

West Side of University road up to the Shackleton building and building 6 –August

West Side of Campus by maths and Turner Sims - late August to early September

East Side of University road near Faraday and Building 23 – early to mid September

University road houses and Jubilee sports centre car park – mid September

Telecoms Mast in Broadlands car park

Over the coming weeks you may also notice the start of works to erect a telecoms mast in the Broadlands car park. This is not a University project and works are being organised and run by the Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG). Please see their website for more information.
