Event details
We are holding a Workshop at the University of Southampton from 10.30 until 3.30 on 3 May 2012 titled Improving the Employability of OR Graduates.
The aim of this workshop is to obtain up-to-date information from employers about the current skills and knowledge that are desirable in Operational Research (OR) or Management Science (MS) graduates, and to discuss what this means for current courses in OR and MS.
The event will contain presentations from employers (e.g. the Government OR Service and DSTL), a representative from the OR Society, PhD supervisors and an Industrial Liaison Officer. These presentations will be used to initiate and inform discussion about changes and developments which may be needed to current OR and MS courses in order to improve the employability of graduates. Areas of consideration will include the curriculum content and the learning, teaching and assessment methods which are currently used in courses in the subject.
The workshop should be relevant to those involved in teaching masters courses in OR and MS as well as to those who are teaching undergraduate courses which contain some elements of OR.
If you are interested in attending, please complete a registration form and return it to Meko So (m.so@soton.ac.uk).
If you wish to contribute to the debate but are unable to attend, please contact Christine Currie (Christine.currie@soton.ac.uk).
