Abstract of the talk: The customer science company dunnhumby, uses advanced statistics, mathematics and computer science to investigate the behaviours of hundreds of millions of shoppers around the world. They work with household names, including Tesco, Coca-Cola, Mars, Unilever, Macys and others around the globe. Hear about their philosophy and approach, especially their ever-increasing focus on advanced methods to perform predictions using “big data” in a “real time” environment.

Giles Pavey,dunnhumby,Giles is Chief Data Scientist at dunnhumby where he has worked for 18 years with retailers across 5 continents. He is Honorary Professor in Computer Science at UCL, Fellow of the IMA and sits on industrial advisory groups at Oxford, Imperial and UCL universities.
Marios Michailidis,dunnhumby,Marios is dunnhumby’s lead scientist of personal recommendation. In his spare time Marios is near completion of his PhD in Computer Science at UCL. Also in his other spare time he competes on Kaggle, the competitive modelling site where he was recently ranked #1 out of 500,000.
