This talk will explore the practical realities of developing the analytical evidence base to support strategic planning and investment decisions within the health and care system. It will focus on the development of “Channel Shift” within the context of urgent and emergency care, but may also draw on other parts of the system including, for example, mental health.

Tim Gardener,Catalyze Consulting ,Dr Tim Gardener has been Director of Health at Catalyze since June 2017. Catalyze is a Management Consultancy originally spun out of the London School of Economics to apply decision science research in the “real” world. Prior to the role in Catalyze, Tim was Capability Lead for Operational Improvement at Capita Health Partners where he led a wide range or projects for NHS Clients. Tim is a mathematician by training, with a doctorate in mathematical logic from Oxford. He was a Fellow at Queen’s College, Oxford and a member of the Max-Planck Institute fur Mathematik in Bonn. He developed an interest in Operational Research during his time at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory where he led the team developing Future Analytical Methods.
